Booking Hair, Makeup, and Peace of Mind

Joanne didn't know it at the time but she wanted to book bridal hair and makeup in addition to peace of mind. Her wedding at Woodberry Kitchen was a reflection of her values-- intimate, thoughtful, and full of heart. From our very first phone call, we connected over her engagement in Portugal, her vision for an effortless look, and her wanting a day centered around family, friends, and having a good time. Her vision aligned so naturally with my style, and I couldn't wait to help bring it to life!

Our Initial Communication

During our phone call, I knew that we would be a great fit for each other. Her hair and makeup aesthetic aligned so well with my style and I just loved her philosophy of weddings as a way to bring friends and family together.

-Hi there! I'm Olivia and I help brides feel like their best self in the most comfortable way. My hair and makeup style is natural, authentic, and inspired by soft glam. I'm located in Baltimore, and serve the East Coast from Virginia to Massachusetts.

After our phone call, I sent a follow-up email and felt so confident that we would be a great fit for each other. My email summarized everything we talked about over the phone including her beauty vision, pricing, logistics, and next steps. Two days later, I received a kind email from Joanne saying she loved my work, but my rates weren't in her budget and that she would have to go a different route. I completely understood-- every bride needs to make the best choice for their situation, and I always respect that.

The Follow Up

Then, a few months later in October, I received another email:

"Hi Olivia,

I hope you have been well! I'm reaching out to wonder if you are still available on my date? There are some communication issues with another artist that I booked, and now I am looking for an alternative. Although I initially said that your services were above my budget, I really love your work. I would rather pay more and be reassured that you will be able to fulfill my vision. If you are available, I would love to use your services!

I really appreciated this thoughtful email and I responded right away. We got on another phone call so that I could better learn what she was looking for. She ended up booking just a few days later!

The Importance of Values

I really believe that everything we do that brings us peace and joy -- especially on our wedding day-- ultimately circles back to our values. For example, Joanne valued her time and wanted peace of mind: clear communication and feeling confident in her final look. She wanted an artist who would listen carefully, take the time to understand her, and deliver a polished yet natural style.

Many brides don't fully realize how personal wedding beauty is until later in the process. Hair and makeup are on you all day, captured in every photo, and felt in every moment. There's so much more to it than just showing up on the wedding morning.
