Lipstick or Lip Gloss?

A common question that I get from brides is: Should I do lipstick or lipgloss?"

There is honestly no right answer! It really comes down to your preferences, what your most comfortable in, and the overall vibe that you want. Some brides want a soft, dewy gloss, while others feel more put-together with a long-wearing lipstick. Here's how I usually help break it down:

-Hi there! I'm Olivia and I help brides feel like their best self in the most comfortable way. My hair and makeup style is natural, authentic, and inspired by soft glam. I'm located in Baltimore, and serve the East Coast from Virginia to Massachusetts.

Lipstick: Classic and Long-Lasting

If you want something that will last longer through champagne toasts and hugs, lipstick is usually the way to go. It has more pigment and stays longer. The color is also more likely to pop in photos. This is probably a good choice for you if you want the color to pop in photos, you want something that is defined and more structured, and you don't want to think about reapplying too much.

Usually, soft shades like rose, nudes, or mauves flatter most people and complement the rest of the bridal look well!

Lip Gloss: Soft, Fresh, Natural

I am totally a lip gloss girl so I am a little biased lol. This is such a beautiful option if you want a fresh, glowy feel. It gives the lips a plump and hydrated look- and it is perfect for brides who want something subtle and effortless. You will love this if you want something more low-key, natural, and hydrating.

Basically, if you are a lip balm girl, this is probably your pick :)) Like Chapstick and Carmex, you'll have to reapply your lip gloss every couple of hours. Don't worry though- I will put some lip gloss in your little bridal touch up kit before I leave!

Final Thoughts

There's no pressure to choose one or the other right away. During your preview, we can test both out and see what you're drawn towards! It's all about feeling like your best self- just elevated. If you're not sure- we can do both: we can use a lipstick first and then a clear or light pink shimmer gloss on top!
