It is always a fun surprise when one of my brides lives in my neighborhood and can take a quick stroll to my home for our bridal preview! Working with Carly for her wedding hair and makeup was just as relaxed and laid back as her two-block walk to my home.

-Hi there! I'm Olivia and I help brides feel like their best self in the most comfortable way. My hair and makeup style is natural, authentic, and inspired by soft glam. I'm located in Baltimore and Connecticut, and serve the East Coast from Virginia to Massachusetts.

Let's walk through Carly's hair and makeup experience below!

Discovery Phone Call

Carly inquired in December of 2024 for her October 2025 wedding at the Mt. Washington Mill Dye House in Baltimore, Maryland. She was looking for someone who could help her enjoy a relaxed, easy-going morning. Carly shared that she and her fiance are fun-loving people who just love to have a good time and share laughs.

She shared that she was drawn to me because she prefers more natural makeup. When Carly does her own makeup, she will typically do "a little contour and play up [her] cheekbones, brown and tan tones, neutral lips, and glowy skin."

Then, Carly shared a little bit about her past experiences with makeup artists, "I've gotten makeup done in the past and it wasn't the best. One of them felt heavy and cakey. The other time, I felt very orange and my eyelashes were too much, especially in photos."

The discovery phone call was super helpful so that I could better understand Carly's comfort level and what she was looking for when it came to hair and makeup preferences. Beauty is very subjective so it is important to me to understand what my brides are looking for so that I can help them feel like their best version!

The Hair and Makeup Preview

When it came time to Carly's bridal preview, I was a bit nervous because she didn't bring any inspiration photos. She shared a little bit about her makeup preferences, such as not using too much eyeliner, not having a bold lip, and aiming for glowy skin. Other than this, she shared "I trust you and I just want what you do on your other brides!"

I always tell brides that hair and makeup is a collaborative experience, and truthfully, this statement of "do what you want" makes me anxious because like I said before, beauty is so subjective! I really do appreciate when brides share with me what it is they want exactly. However, once I was finished, Carly and I spent about 4 hours refining her hair and makeup look, and laughing about all random things in the world. Once makeup was finished, she had little to no notes about changes.

We continued on to styling hair. A few hours later, we came up with a multiple different looks and made a few finishing touch ups based on her feedback. Carly originally wanted her hair parted in the middle with both sides tucked behind her ears (see the middle photo below). However, after we saw her look, we both knew we wanted to try a different style.

We ended up trialing a trendier style with both sides pinned up to give a more "snatched" effect but we also didn't feel like this was fully "the one."

Lastly, we decided to try on some classic soft glam waves with a side part. See below!

Wedding Day

I arrived thirty minutes before to unload and set up my kit in Carly's room. We got ready at the Four Seasons in Baltimore, which I highly recommend for any Baltimore brides! The suites have great lighting, beautiful views, and they are the perfect size if you're having a party of 3-6 people getting ready with you.

On the wedding day, Carly and I touched base one more time about her look and we agreed that we would go with the last hairstyle with the side part and classic soft waves.

After getting ready at the Four Seasons in Baltimore, Carly headed up north to celebrate and get married at the Mt. Washington Mill Dye House. Take a look at the gallery by Jackie Steele Photography to see how Carly's wedding hair and makeup lasted throughout the night!
