Vienna's Intimate & Intentional Wedding at Swann House Washington DC

One of my core values is intentionality so being purposeful with every step in the process is super important to me. It is even better when clients value intentionality too, so we can create the best and prettiest look for them!

From the start, I appreciated the complete trust that Vienna put in me as her wedding hair and makeup artist. In her initial inquiry form, Vienna shared that she was looking for someone who was "relaxed and stress-free who [could] deliver a natural, soft look to enhance [her] features." The way Vienna described her dream wedding day helped me understand that she too, valued comfort and intention on her big day.

What drew me to Vienna was her sense of individuality:

"We tend to veer on the non traditional side. We want to do what makes the most sense to us. We want to make decisions that align to us and our beliefs. We are not doing a traditional ceremony, just an exchange of vows privately, the two of us. When it comes to hair and makeup, I don't want to look like someone different. I want to look and feel like myself."

-Hi there! I'm Olivia and I help brides feel like their best self in the most comfortable way. My hair and makeup style is natural, authentic, and inspired by soft glam. I'm located in Baltimore and Connecticut, and serve the East Coast from Virginia to Massachusetts.

What Vienna Requested

Vienna was interested in makeup that would enhance her features, not look cakey, and that would match her skin tone well like many of my other brides. Because of her fair skin, she was nervous about whether her makeup artist could match her skin, and preferred to not look too yellow. Vienna has combination skin with dry patches by her cheeks and chin and oily areas around her nose. She was super intentional and collaborative throughout the process and received monthly facials to maintain her skin.

For hair, Vienna was more low-maintenance. She knew she wanted her hair in curls or in a low bun. During our discovery call, I shared that while both options sounded great, her hair would probably work best with a low bun since her hair didn't curl well. I always tell clients that the best hairstyle to do is always the one that your hair wants to do :)

The Wedding Day

Vienna was so intentional about every detail of wedding and wedding day look. The morning was intimate with her family joining for hair and makeup. The reception was full of about 50 guests mingling and dancing the night away. I truly feel so special and honored to have been a part of her day. Upon arrival to Swann House DC, Vienna greeted me as soon as I pulled into the driveway. Even though I insisted the bride not, Vienna eagerly helped carry my bags and table into the bridal suite. Like what?! I have the sweetest brides ever.

My additional artist and I started off with hair and makeup for Vienna's sister, mother, and grandmother. Her sister was the best maid of honor, helping her clear space mentally and physically. It was really helpful that each client brought inspiration photos of their ideal looks.

The morning was slow and calm with buffer time built into the schedule, as Vienna requested. When it was time for her hair and makeup, we had a mini-consultation about any changes and additions from when we last spoke.
